I had a virus and had to reformat my hard drive and reinstall windows 98 se. Now there is no sound, except when I start up, I have a woofer box on, and it opens with a great thud, so I know all my speakers and the like are connected. (At least I think they are, as I did not take out any wires from the back to the speakers etc). But now when I look in hardware under system, I see no mention of soundcards or the like. When I go to install there are three yellow ?? which come up, but it does not say whether one of these is sound. Can you help me please? |

Computers require drivers to communicate with their devices. You may need to download a sound driver from the sound card's manufacturer's website. |

Yes I have an atech cdrom with drivers on it like creative etc - but how do I install them. Dont I have to find the peice of hardware in system first - like network adaptors and then go in and update driver? I can see nothing which even refers to sound. |
