Question ID: 561293
I am looking for a federal trial transcript. I know the dock number.
I will pay someone to get it for me. The docket is 1:04cr-00304-001.
Case number is 5:04-mj-05054jsg-all Case tried in eastern Virginia
federal court. Defendant is James woodruff. The end product that I am
expecting to pay for is the trial transcript, sentencing report and
related documents to the case in PDF or word format. Where I can find
about release date is helpful.

rassm - Obtaining a court transcript usually requires written request
and payment. Courts, especially Federal, do not keep transcripts of
court cases online in PDF format. They might, however, have the
judgemnt online where you could get the basis of the case and judges
decision.

Would you accept details on HOW you can obtain them yourself as an answer?

This case was originally filed in Ohio District Court, and later
transferred to Virginia Eastern District.

A description of the case docket is available online, although most of
the actual docket materials themselves do not appear to be available
online.

The information that IS available is informative, although a bit
cryptic at times. For instance, here's the summary of the sentencing
report:

=====
Sentencing held on 5/27/2005 held before Judge Claude M. Hilton as to
James Woodruff: (Court Reporter: Linnell) US appeared through: Robert
Wiechering and Robert Erickson. Dft appeared w/counsel Drew Hutcheson.
Dft's obj. to PSIR heard and court finds the amount of loss is
properly calculated, dft is entitled to credit for acceptance of
responsibility and no role in the offense enhancement should be given.
Court finds g/l properly assessed at a range of 37 to 46 mos. Dft
committed to custody of US Atty General to serve a term of 40 mos. w/3
year SR term and assessed $100. $549,920.00 restitution (pursuant to
Restitution Judgment filed in open court) Cond. of SR: Pay the
restitution in monthly intallments of at least $250.00 to commence
w/in 60 days after release from confinement. Court rec. that the dft
be incarcerated as close to his residence as possible. (additional
rec. of 500 hour drug treatment program added to J&C per 6/3/05
request of dft - granted by CMH) Dft to vol. surrender once space is
available. (tarm, ) Modified on 6/8/2005 (tarm, ).
=====

From my read of the docket materials (with a limited understanding of
the legalese), Woodruff was found guilty of wire fraud, sentenced to
40 months -- most or all of which was under supervised release (SR) --
and must pay restitution of over half a million dollars, with a
minimum payment of at least $250 per month.

Beyond this level of detail though, you would probably need to visit
the court to access the paper records directly.

Should I post more of the docket information as an answer to your
question? If so, please be aware that the information is mostly as
above, and is not an actual trial transcript.

Let me know what you think,
