My Problem #1. My Worldpay ecommerce system sends all customers to a single landing page. My Need #1. I'd like to send purchasers of product A to landing page A, and purchasers of product B to landing page B. Problem #2. Worldpay sets the price in the currency of your choice. In our case, that's UK pounds. This means we can't tell a US customer what they will be charged. Once the customer has added their contact details, Worldpay offers to tell the customer what the cost will be in US dollars or Euros, but that's too late in the process. My Need #2. I'd like to show a fixed set of four prices, for customers who live in the USA (in dollars), the UK (in pounds) in Europe (in euros), and elsewhere (in dollars). Is that too much to ask? Our system adds shipping charges, but customers only discover the price after they've added their contact details, which is too late in the process. We also use Paypal for certain products. I love the way you can define the amount, the currency, and the landing page. That is so flexible. But Paypal looks like a solution for very small businesses, so I'm not sure it has the right image. Plus I'm not sure whether the charges are higher than we pay for our Worldpay/Streamline system. Problem #3. We have a very basic shopping cart, hand-made in 2000. Need #3. I'd like to have added functionality in our shopping cart, such as the ability to up-sell ("You've bought product A, why not add product B?"). I don't want a web-based solution, and I'm attracted to open source systems, as long as they look polished. We have a turnover of 750K UK pounds, $1.5million. And this may not be relevant but since our products are expensive (around $600 - $1,200) customers don't need a 'shopping cart'. We need to send them straight to a checkout. Please can you advise me how I might overcome my first two problems, and which shopping cart(s) might meet my needs in problem 3. |

We don't use Worldpay right now due to the cost. |

Instead of using Worldpay why not use a more flexible gateway. You didnt say where you were from, ie what country, so its hard to recommend a new gateway for you but there are alot out there that have more functionality then the worldpay system and lower costs. Im not sure if they allow the separate currencies or not though. What some or our customers do is put a currency conversion calculator on their website. The convertor allows customers to put in an amount in one currency and see approximately what that would be in their own currency. This can at least give your customers an idea what they would be paying. Shopping Cart Software, Ecommerce Solutions, Online Store Builder, EasyStoreCreator |

Convertor: Yes we used to put an xe.com convertor on the site. It showed overseas customers roughly what they would be paying. But I really want to bill US customers in actual dollars, not dollars converted at today's rate from pounds sterling, which is what happens at present (we're UK-based). This means that a US customer buying today will pay a different amount from what they would have paid last week, which is unsatisfactory. So the question is, does anyone know if I can get a processor who will let me bill in specific amounts (so you can pay in UK pounds, US dollars or Euro). After all Paypal lets you do that. Multiple landing pages: Our Worldpay system allows us to use only one landing page (again in contrast to Psypal which lets you define a landing page for each and every product. And here's a related thought. How does the consumer regard Paypal? do they see it as a small bus payment method? Is there any research on that? Flexibility: Which gateway might be more flexible than Worldpay? Carts: I looked at easystorecreator, but they charge per month; and I prefer to own the system, to pay a one-off fee or go to an open source solution. |
