Question ID: 561406
I am from India. We do not have the GPA grading system here. Here we
have the percentage system. We receive marks out of 100. If I post all
my marksheets (8 semesters) can anyone convert my percentage to GPA
(also giving me the calculations how he/she calculated it)?

Following points should be taken in consideration:
Minimum Passing Marks: (As stated by the U.P. Tech University)
1) End Semester Theory Examinatio (Exam) in each subject: 30%
2) End Semester Theory Examination + Sessional (Sess.) in each subject: 40%
3) Comprehensive Viva/Project: 50%
4) Grand Aggregate of an Academic Year (Two Semesters): 50%

My own assessment:
Marks greater then 75 are rare.
Highest final engineering aggregate that I know of is around 80% with
less then 10% people above 75%.

My own percentage - 69.5%
I believe every university will have their own formula for calculation
gpa, still the assumptions made to calculate my GPA can be listed,
for eg
Percentage U.S. Grade Equivalent Approximate GPA
60-100 A 4.00
55-59 B+ 3.33
50-54 B 3.00
43-49 C+ 2.33
35-42 C 2.00
0-34 F 0.00

I am ready to pay upto $10 for my GPA being calculated (and the
calculations to reach that GPA be given to me). Please quote an
appropriate price.

It should be taken in notice that the passing marks in my University
are 30 unlike 35 as stated in the assumed GPA chart. The rest is same.

Kaboooooom --

This doesn't answer the question but it DOES give you an idea of the
distribution of GPAs in the U.S. With a similar Indian distribution
you can start to draw some (limited) conclusions.
