Hello!

Please let me know if this helps
http://medicalcenter.osu.edu/patientcare/findadoctor/best/

"The "Best Doctors in America" list is considered to be one of the
more prestigious and credible tools available to consumers for
selecting a doctor. The survey, compiled using peer-review-based
evaluations and updated for 2004, includes physicians in primary care
and specialty areas, such as cardiology, surgery and pediatrics. Of
the 182 central Ohio physicians ranked in the national ?Best Doctors?
survey, 145 are affiliated with OSU Medical Center. Only physicians
who earn the consensus support of their peers are included in the
list"

Thank you for your question. I'm looking for the whole list of
doctors. I believe it includes the top 100 doctors in several
specialty areas and it is a national survey, not connected to one
institution. I hope this clarifies the issue.

Hi Perrenialstudent,

The America's Best 100 Doctors list is compiled by BestDoctors.com,
which does not release its list to the general public. Instead, the
names of doctors that are chosen for any given institution are
released solely to that institution. You could, if you chose, go
through all the hospitals in the country and compile the list, but
this would be a pain (not to mention worth a lot more than $5!).

Sorry!

Note: There's also the "America's Top Doctors" list, which is compiled
from a survey of patients. In my experience there is a lot of
overlap, though not 100%. Interesting...

Sorry that this was a "you can't" response. If you'll accept it as an
answer I'd be happy to explain my methodology etc. Otherwise I
understand.

Thanks for the clarification! I did not know that. I'm happy to
accept this as an answer. I'm not sure what else I need to do for
that to take effect. If you know where I can get those top doctors,
then, for hospitals in Central Florida, I'd appreciate it.

Hi Perrennialstudent,

As requested, here's the info that I can get on the America's Best Doctors list(s):

The America's Best Doctors survey is run by BestDoctors.com, which
markets this list to both hospitals and to insurance companies. It is
(at least in theory) based on a survey of physicians in the United
States (there is a parallel list for Canada). Here's their website:
http://www.bestdoctors.com/bd/default.htm.

You should know that (at least at my institution), the list of "best
doctors" (and the similar list of "top doctors", mentioned above) are
not really seen as being particularly prestigious. They tend to
reflect seniority (i.e., name recognition) more necessarily than
skill.

It's pretty easy to identify doctors in Florida who are proud of their
"best doctor" status - or whose institutions are - by doing a Google
search for the following:

"america's best doctors" Florida (this search found me 558 websites)

Or you can replace Florida with the particular hospital, specialty,
etc. in which you are interested. While there is no one list of
everyone (at least not one available to you as a consumer), the
BestDoctors.com organization does release the names of specific
doctors to the hospital/institution at which they work. Those
hospitals/institutions tend to put out a press release touting their
"best doctors", and those end up on the web.

Please let me know if you'd like me to refine the above search - by
putting in a clarification request (preferably before rating the
answer!). I'm happy to dig a bit further if you need it.

Yours,

Librariankt
