I am looking for a poem I had found on the web and then can't find
now. It is written by a teacher on the first day of school to a
parent telling them that even if the teacher did not send a note home,
she was busy teaching, and to be assured that the child was well cared
for. Can you find it for me?

Hi nkamom,

Is there any line of the poem you can remember? Or maybe, a part of
the name of the website?

Hi Rainbow. Here is what I remember, but it did not help me. I came
across it searching for a tribute poem for special needs teachers. I
had previously posted a question here about poems for special ed
teachers and thought it was on one of the sites given in the answer,
but I cannot find it there. I think the site said something
like:"Poems writtne for teachers by teachers" or some variation
thereof. I don't remember exact lines from the poem, but the jist was
the teacher writing a note to the parent saying that the child was
well taken care of, nad the teacher understood that the parent was
anxious, but the kid was fine.

Thanks.

Is this the poem?

The First Day
I gave you a little wink and smile
As you entered my room today.
For I know how hard it is to leave
And know your child must stay.
You've been with him for five years now
And have been a loving guide,
But now, alas, the time has come
To leave him at my side.
Just know that as you drive away
And tears down your cheeks may flow
I'll love him as I would my own
And help him learn and grow.
For as a parent, I too know
How quickly the years do pass
And that one day soon it will be my turn
To take my child to class.
So please put your mind at ease
And cry those tears no more
For I will love him and take him in
When you leave him at my door.

Not quite right. The one I remember specifically says something about
the parent not getting a note from the teacher. The message is
similar. Thanks for looking.
