Question ID: 561700
Where would I find some of the amateur video that's going to be
surfacing soon from New Orleans? How would I search only Blogs for
instance? Or what should my search strategy be? Will there be a
clever enrepaneaur who will collect them on one site? P.S. I don't
have a Television so this is my only way of seeing any footage.
Thanks.

You can see some CNN video footage online at this link:

Is that what you're after, or did you specifically need home videos?

Specifically home made videos from local amateurs.
When hurricane Iniki hit the Hawaiin island of Kuwai in the eighties
hundreds of home movies surfaced of roofs being blown off and trees
going over. Similarly the recent Asian Tsunami produced another wave
of amateur videos. Some got on the TV but many did not.

Because the major news services were well aware of Katrina well ahead
of time, they will be using their own footage, rather than relying on
amateurs. This is in contrast to the unexpected tsunami in Asia.

Good point. I'll withdraw the question.

Ah_oooh! (after your user name a comma is insuficient)
Nelson-ga has a point, but the amateur videos must be out there.

The primary state-owned German TV on its special tonight broadcast a
website amateur video of Katrina and showed a shot of "hurricane blog"
being entered on screen as the voice explained about US "citizen
reporters".

Even though I don't know where to locate those sure-to-surface home
videos at the moment, I must say I do admire ah_ooh-ga's clever name.
For Europeans and others who may not know, "Ahooga" is the
unmistakable sound of a Model A Ford car horn. See here:

My guess is that few amateur videos are online now. (Several blogs
covering the story do not contain or link to any amateur videos.) But
I'd bet that if someone researches this question in a few days, there
will be many.
