Howdy ych-ga, Yes, there are laws in China that cover all aspects of "piracy" such as Intellectual Property Rights (IPR), patents, trademarks, and copyrights. This "Judicial Protection of IPR in China" web page on "Laws" has links to the text of these laws. http://www.chinaiprlaw.com/english/laws/laws.htm "Judicial Protection of IPR in China" Copyrights are what most people reference when it comes to "piracy" and that law is provided on this web page on the same web site. http://www.chinaiprlaw.com/english/laws/laws10.htm "Copyright Law of the People's Republic of China" If you need any clarification, please feel free to ask. Enforcement is another matter. We have some friends in Vietnam and they have no choice but to buy DVDs that are pirated. They couldn't see the latest Star Wars movie there. They couldn't buy a DVD of it (legal copy). They had to watch a pirated copy, the captioning was in Chineese and the words at the begining were Cyrillic. I think the DVD was like $3.00 |
