The vehicle will have to meet US EPA emission regulations before it
can clear customs.  I doubt that a vehicle made in India will meet
those regulations without
major and expensive alterations.

This vehilce is only here for research and will be shipped back in 4
months. It will NOT be driven on public roads. It will be tested in a
private track.

I would look for a local Mumbai shipping agent.  A foreign agent will
probably have to engage one to handle the shipment to the States,
increasing costs, in addition to the foreign agent's higher overhead
that is included in its price.
