I recall reading in a newspaper that different airports in North
America charge different landing fees for airlines to use their
airstrips. What are the cheapest airports to land in, and what are the
most expensive ones? Please try to include which cities, airport name,
and their (average) landing costs. I recall reading that cities like
Cleveland, Ohio, are cheap to land in, probably because they want more
airplanes landing there?
A comprehensive list would be nice to have as well.
Thanks! |

Howdy garyking-ga,
Any list, let alone a comprehensive one, would strongly challenge the fee
structure for Answers, as this appears to be dynamic information.
As an example:
"New Orleans airport OKs deal to cut plane landing fees"
http://archives.californiaaviation.org/airport/msg35362.html
"The agreement calls for lowering the landing fees from $3.44 per 1,000
pounds to about $1.07 per 1,000 pounds."
"Airport waives landing fees to spur commercial traffic"
http://www.bizjournals.com/tampabay/stories/2001/10/15/tidbits.html
"Sarasota Bradenton International Airport is offering some relief to
strapped airlines. The airport waived landing fees for its five
commercial carriers for three months ..."

Could you maybe find the article that I was talking about? I'm from
Toronto, and so I saw the article in a Canadian/Toronto newspaper or
magazine in the past. I'm thinking that it is probably the Toronto
Star (most popular newspaper in Toronto.)

There is this:
"Cheers, fears as Pickering airport back on radar"
http://www.ctv.ca/servlet/ArticleNews/story/CTVNews/1100696817493_44/
"Last year, Air Canada and other airlines were paying more than $3,300 US. Now
Pearson has told airlines it's going to cost raise those fees by 18 per cent.
Pearson is already the most expensive place in North America to land a
plane. Atlanta, one the world's busiest airports, is the cheapest in
North America at
just $146 for the same plane. The cost in Los Angeles is $618, while Calgary
is $821 and Vancouver $866."

What search method did you use? I'll try to expand the search myself
to see what I can find.
