Question ID: 56201
I, recently, bought "The Reprise Collection", Sinatra's best...In the
collection is "A Man Alone" written by Rod McKuen..Is there a CD
available of Rod McKuen songs, sung by Sinatra ? I, also, remember
"I'll Take The Sun". Knowing the title would help me in searching for
it on the internet. Amazon.com has great sources for used C.D.'s. Any
other ideas. What ever became of Rod McKuen? He seemed so prolific,
as a writer, in the 60's, and just fell off the radar screen...Much
thanx from Yeoldescribe..

Hi yeoldescribe-ga:

Thank you for the fascinating question. :-)

The CD I believe you are looking for is called "A Man Alone & Other
Songs of Rod McKuen", which was originally released March 19, 1969 and
re-released in 1999 - after Sinatra's death. This CD contains the
tracks:

1. A Man Alone
2. Night
3. I've Been to Town
4. From Promise to Promise
5. The Single Man
6. The Beautiful Strangers
7. Lonesome Cities
8. Love's Been Good to Me
9. Empty Is
10. Out Beyond the Window
11. Some Traveling Music
12. A Man Alone (Reprise)

You can buy this CD for about $17 at Amazon.com:

http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B000006L3X/qid=1029771603/sr=1-2/ref=sr_1_2/002-5365136-9270422

or Barnes & Noble:

As for whatever happened to Rod McKuen, he's alive, well, and still
prolific. :-)

Rod has a *super* website at

http://www.mckuen.com/index.htm

that details his music, poetry, books, and other activities. He still
plays concerts, though it seems only a couple of times a year. See

http://www.mckuen.com/concerts.htm

for upcoming concert dates.

Rod was deeply touched by Sinatra's passing and wrote both prose and
poetry about his friend which can be found at:

http://www.mckuen.com/news/sinatra.htm

I hope this puts your mind at ease. If there is anything that I've
written that needs clarification, please ask before you rate this
answer.

Thanks.

FANTASTIC ! For speed, clarity, and nice comment regarding my
question. The tune, A Man Alone, by Sinatra, is haunting. I'm going
to order "A Man Alone" from Amazon.com..... Regards from yeoldescribe
