I am looking for a manufacturer of a doorbell that plays up to 40
different songs, one after another on succesive pressings of the
doorbell button. I have one and it is no longer working. However there

Musical doorbells have become scarce over the past two decades. I can
remember when they were sold by the likes of Radio Shack, Sears, and
many electronic retailers. I called our local Sears catalog (now
Outlet) store and spoke at length with Maxine, who has worked there
for over 20 years. She was able to pull out several '80s catalogs with
such offerings, but they no longer stock that merchandise. The
manufacturers listed are out of business. No trace of a business
presence remains, nor am I able to locate old units for sale in
surplus, classified, or auctions.

Out of curiosity, I researched the background on electronic and
musical door chimes, and found that the technology behind them, which
is known as Chip-On-Board has migrated from the States to Asia.
Apparently, so has most of the popularity of the resulting use in
doorbells and doorbell kits. Products of a similar nature are being
sold in India, China, and other Asian countries with selections of
local music. Most COB sound applications are sold only in kit form.

Currently, the two best possibilities for replacement of your musical
doorbell seem to be:

The manufacturer's name and model number may be on the side facing the
wall, or inside the case.
