Question ID: 563107
I live in Wisconsin and have SBC as my local land line phone carrier.
I own a duplex, and occupy half of it. My tenants have SBC DSL and are
very happy with it. I want to switch from my cable internet to DSL
internet, but SBC tells me (repeatedly) that the DSL service is not
available on my line. How can that be? My tenants, who are in the same
dwelling, have the service. I live no more than 100ft away from them.
The best explanation that I've gotten is that MY particular phone
number may be "routed" differently than theirs, even though it ends up
in the same place. Am I just not getting a knowledgeable person on the
phone, or should I give up and accept that it's available on one side
of my duplex, but not another?

I would give them a call again (and again). A friend of mine was told
same by Verizon DSL twice, before the third person said his phone #
qualified. I think some of the staff don't get enough info or
training.

Calling again and again in hopes of getting someone who knew what they
were doing was my first try. I would say that I've called them 6 times
and each time have been told "No." The reasons have varied each time,
so I definatly agree that they need more training. Oh, and of course
each time I call I have to HOLD for 5 minutes before getting a live
person. Frustrating!
