Question ID: 563129
The question is, what is the percentage of laptops sold in the US have
a maximum screen resolution of 1024x768? A breakdown of laptops sold
and in use by maximum screen resolution would be even better.

Hello Jeff

I have researched your question and been able to locate a breakdown of
the available laptop/tablet PC screen sizes. This includes the
resolutions that each screen size should be able to work at.

I have though been unable to locate an answer to the percentage of
*laptops* running at a screen resolution of 1024x768, what I have
found is a percentage of all PC users (desktop, laptops and others
combined).

Would these results be acceptable as an answer? Please let me know by
posting a clarification to this question.

Hello Jeff

Thank-you for your question and accepting my clarification as an answer.

OneStat.com recently reported that these were the most popular screen
resolutions for all PC's:

1. 1024 x 768 57.38%
2. 800 x 600 18.23%
3. 1280 x 1024 14.18%
4. 1152 x 864 4.95%
5. 1600 x 1200 1.67%
6. 1280 x 800 1.56%
7. 1600 x 1024 0.55%

Conventional laptop screen sizes range in size from 10.4" to 17.1"
(and above for widescreen models). LCDs4Less.com have produced an
excellent FAQ page detailing the sizes of laptop screens and the
resolutions they are commonly able to accept. It contains a number of
tables which would be impossible to reproduce here due to the limited
formatting we can perform in the Google Answers reply box. The FAQ
can be found here:

I hope these pages solve your query. Should you require any further
information on this subject please do not hesitate to ask for
clarification and I will do my best to help more.
