Question ID: 563298
I live in Chicago and I'm interested in turning my home in to a child
care center. I currently have a license for a home day care. I want
to move and dedicate the entire home to a center.

I have a finished basement with a total of 320 Square feet with no
bathroom. The basement has a door that leads outside. I have
additional floors. The first floor has 1/2 bath kitchen(8x10),
Dinning room(13x11) and a Living room (13x18). The second floor has 3
rooms (13x18), (10x11), (10x13) and a full bath. I have a back yard
that's 32X21. I have ample street parking. My zip code is 60617.

I would like to know if and how I would go about getting my business
licensed as a center opposed to a home based day care with the city
and state. What improvements I would need and what staffing
requirements I have to have. I also would like to know the
mix/capacity of children my home could accomadate based on the above
discription.

Hello chuckbalkn-ga,

Have you checked whether the location has the appropriate zoning for
this conversion from a private home to a business facility or school?
Thanks.
