Question ID: 563325
I am looking to sell a complete pre-configured plug & play system for POS software.
The POS software requires a static IP address to communicate with a
remote computer.
Some of my customers have a dynamic IP and I would like to
accommodate them by making a use of the dynamic DNS feature offered by
web services such as: NO-IP.com, DynDNS.com, TZO.com, and
DynDnsServices.com and by that achieve the same result.

I?m not looking for the service itself, I?m looking into running my
own Dynamic DNS Server (with existing software).

I?m looking for easy to use software that will be easy to maintain,
and easy to configure.

Technical info:

1.) Dynamic DNS Server - Which server software can I
purchase/download, that will provide the same services as no-ip.com
and tzo.com. I want to provide similar services to our base of
customers for a POS Software.

2. Bypass Firewall/Router ? How can I successfully bypass a
router/firewall for a POS Software? We are trying to provide customers
with a simple install process (Plug-N-Play) that will not require
knowledge of routers/firewall configurations. Can this be done through
tunneling software, additional hardware?

3. Dynamic DNS Client Auto IP update client needs to be installed as a
background service.

4. Port Redirect (much like NO-IP port redirect service)

5. DNS Database lookup ability
In future, I?m looking to automate the configuration process (done on
my end, as a part of system build & checkup) I want to write a
software that will look for the last assigned IP address (DNS Name)
and copy that info to the POS software.

I am not looking for suggestions or links to do more research on the
subject, I need a complete a-z solution with a good working solution
for each of the problems.

If I were you, I would post this on Elance.com where you will find a
batch of IT pro's that will not only tell how to do it (most likely
for free in their proposal) but even more so help you build it for
almost nothing.

You could have it running in no time running a Unix box (or Windows
I'm sure but it wouldn't be as stable if ask me) and some quick
software whipped up by them (or possibly already made).

Check it out.
