I am looking for 2004 numbers -- 2003 if the 04 numbers aren't
available yet -- that show the expenditures (i.e., the dollars spent)
in the US for Police Depts., Fire Depts., and emergency medical
services (ambulances). I already have a breakdown for all of those
markets but a breakdown by dollars spent on general items, if
available, would be desired (e.g., $ on vehicles and fleet
maintenance, $ on computers, $ on ...).

It would help to know what sources of information you used for the
numbers you already have.

That way, we avoid rediscovering the wheel, and can try to get some
consistency between any new data we find, and the numbers you already
have.

sorry, when I say a breakdown I meant not of the $ but of the markets.
There, for example, ~17,000 police departments in the US, 57% use
computers, etc. What I don't have are the financials.
