Hi quail-ga,

My search brought me to the US News & World Report website. This
magazine conducts nationwide ranking surveys in a many areas, and its
college rankings report is particularly well-known.

I found a tool that lets you search their "America's Best Colleges
2002" report in detail. It is found at this page :

http://www.usnews.com/usnews/edu/college/tools/cosearch_advanced.htm

I then zoned in on the requirements you specified :
- Majors offered : Fine/Studio arts
- Varsity sports : Women's, Cross-country, Track (indoor), Track
(outdoor), Track and field (indoor), Track and field (outdoor)
(multiple select using Ctrl key)
- Scholarship money available : checked Yes

The query then returned 176 institutions.

I wasn't able to sort these down further by rankings, but there is a
detailed description on each school, with its ranking in the report.
You can "save" each school and compare your selections with each other
online. Since I am not aware of your other requirements (cost,
selectivity, diversity, location etc as available on the search tool),
I am leaving you the option of refining your search further at this
page. Feel free to visit each school in your final narrowed-down
group, and take a look at how they rank.

You will probably like to refer to the page that describes the
rankings :
http://www.usnews.com/usnews/edu/college/rankings/about.htm

Please also view this page that ranks the schools for "Most students
receiving athletic scholarships" :
http://www.usnews.com/usnews/edu/college/rankings/webex/athlet.htm

If we use the same search criteria as mentioned earlier AND use
"selectivity" as a measure of the quality of the school (using "most
selective" as our criterion), then your search narrows down to the
following 10 instutions :

Boston College MA
Bucknell University PA
University of California--Davis CA
University of California--Irvine CA
University of California--Santa Barbara CA
University of North Carolina--Chapel Hill NC
University of Notre Dame IN
University of Richmond VA
University of Southern California CA
Vanderbilt University TN

Hope this helps, and all the best in choosing the school of your
dreams!
