Hello,

The first thing you ought to try is to look on a free Internet
telephone directory such as Yahoo! People Search (people.yahoo.com).
You can type in a name and leave the city and state blank, and up will
pop a list of everyone in the country with a listed telephone number
under that name. If you click on a name, the person's address will
appear. This is best for people with uncommon names. You could then
call the person and ask if he or she used to live at the old address.

For people who are tougher to find, you will probably have to use a
fee-based database. I am familiar with OPENOnline
(www.openonline.com), which allows users to search names, addresses
and telephone numbers from public records nationwide. If you do a
search by address, the database will list all of the people who have
lived at that address. You can then look at the individuals' records
and see their last known address and phone number.

OPENOnline's database is limited to the U.S. If you know what country
someone lives in, you can usually look up the person's addres and
number online. Visit the International White and Yellow Pages
(http://www.wayp.com/) to find a directory in a given country.

Good luck.

Thank you all. This answers really have given me something to work on.
I have started with the Yahoo people search, but since I do not know
the ages of these people ,that was not helpful. I am now going to try
all the other ideas. Once I have handled all I can from thoes
sources,It might not be too expensive to pay for the rest. I am very
satisfied with your answers. Thank you again.

Government agencies regularly publish list of people who have money
owed to them that they don't know about. Consider contacting those
agencies and have their names published. Everyone likes free money
:-)

I congratulate you for wanting to make an honest effort to locate
these people who have monies owed to them.

You may want to consult with a local private detective in your city,
as most of them have access to databases (similar to credit bureau
information) that have nationwide coverage and could do searches based
on the name only or a match with the last known address to come up
with a more updated address for about $25-$75 per person (which I
realize is a bit expensive). If you wanted to do a search online in a
search engine, using the term "people finders", etc. you will find
many online companies that could do the search a little bit cheaper,
for about $10 - $40 per name searched, sometimes giving you a discount
if you have a batch of 50-100 names to be searched (how many names DO
you have, and what is the average amount of the check they will be
receiving?). Do you have access to the people's SSN or date of birth?
Another cheaper alternative would be for you to report the list of
names to each of the 50 states unclaimed property department
(whichever states would be applicable) and let them publish the names
once or more a year in the local newspaper, and the claimants could
find out about their money that way. Or you could pay for a display
ad in a newspaper with local coverage (are most of the names from a
particular city/state?) or national coverage (USA TODAY, NEW YORK
TIMES) that would list the names and addresses and amount due, and the
interested parties would see their name and respond to your business
address or phone number.

There are also many online websites that assist in locating people.
Visit the website www.peoplesearch.com, and post a few of the names of
people you are searching for (they allow a posting of a previous
address if you know it) and the public can assist you in locating some
of these people for free or very inexpensively.

SINCERELY
