If you mean, all welfare, in the USA, including pensions, Then the answer is 535billion dollars a year. So just a bit more than the army budget. |

here are some sources, the stats in this case are different, 471 billion dollars in 2003, http://www.epinet.org/content.cfm/issueguide_socialsecurity http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Social_security_%28United_States%29 For the US states the average amount is less. Texas for example spends 24 dollars on each person, while the average for america is 54 dollars from each state on public welfare http://www.baptiststandard.com/2003/2_17/print/clc_legislators.html which would be on average 54 dollars a peron, which added together would reach 14 billion dollars a year. So America spends around 500billion a year. |
