I am following the career of Cynthia Kenyon. My motivation is that she
seems to be the person closest to figuring out how to extend lifespan
in mammals, including hominids like me. I would like a listing of her
most recent writings (later than '04) and citings (later than '04),
preferably written to audiences with an average IQ greater than room
temperature. The winner will have found "breakthrough" in an article.
Thanks, all.

Can you clarify what you mean by 'citings'.

Hi Jimbaen

I have found a listing of a couple hundred articles authored or
co-authored by Cynthia Kenyon (not all are the correct Cynthia
however. Must vet the list.). These are all from scientific journals.
However, at first glance (and I haven't taken the time to look
closely) very few by your Cynthia are as current as 2004. I only found
1 in the first 25 articles.

It is here:

Regulation of C. elegans Longevity by Specific Gustatory and Olfactory Neurons
http://seroudelab.biology.queensu.ca/pdf/alcedo.pdf

Is that the kind of thing you are looking for? If so, I'd be happy to
go through the list and give you the ones that meet your criteria.

Also, to repeat what Pafalafa-ga asked, what do you mean by citings.
Do you want a list of articles that cite her?

Let me know how you'd like me to proceed.

Thanks,

-K~

One thing I should clarify: You will not be able to read most of these
articles online. Without subscriptions to the various journals you
will only have access to the the abstracts and in some cases just the
bibliography.

What I mean by 'citings': Well, a citation of an article written by
Cynthaa K. or other person dealing with DAF-12 expression. I'd very
much like to see articles regarding life extension in non-mousy
mammals, especially by disabling DAF-12.
I'd LOVE to see an article explaining why Cynthia keeps getting
younger ever since she extended lifespan in C. elegans. :)(I'm 62 and
I want to fix that. The irony is just excruciating: to miss out by
ten or so years after three billion years of evolution is just too
painful. :)

Hi Jimbaen,

Wow, what an interesting search! I?ve read the headlines over the
years, but haven?t followed the actual science. Fascinating!

This is a list of Cynthia Kenyon?s publications linked from her own website:

PUBMED: search results kenyon+c
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/entrez/query.fcgi?dispmax=25&db=PubMed&cmd=Search&term=kenyon%2Bc&doptcmdl=DocSum%20

However her search term [Kenyon+c] results in many articles by other
scientist with similar names (especially a rather prolific CJ Kenyon
in Scotland). I?ve cleaned up the search results (see my search
strategy at the end of this answer) and presented the most recent
articles below.

I believe I have found everything that she?s published in the last 2-3
years. I took the liberty of including some 2003 articles that seemed
relevant.

It doesn?t appear that Dr. Kenyon is working on anything other than
the trusty nematode, c. elegans. At least one article makes
comparisons with fruit flies, but I don?t see anything more advanced
than that in her literature. Looks to me like it?s going to be some
years before we all get to live twice as long as we do now.

woman! She never stops smiling!

This is a woman who clearly loves what she does, is passionate for
research, and has enthusiastic hope for the future. If that doesn?t
keep a person young, nothing will.

Thanks for a great question. I had fun answering it and learned a lot.

Hi again,

I just noticed, in checking over my links, that the number of
citations in the Google Scholar search results is ever-changing. They
are going up (as one might expect), so my numbers are no longer
correct.
