Does anyone really like E-Cards? If so, what about them is appealing?
Holding paper in my hands is so much more personal I think; still, I
see that many greeting card companies use them to get high ranks with
the search engines. I am trying to sell my own greeting cards on the
web, but am hesitant to use my work in the E-card fashion. I would
really like some honest feedback on the feelings of the people reading
this post. What is most appealing to you as the recipient of a
greeting card? The sentiment or the picture? Or could it be both
perhaps. Either way, let me know, and we can debate the subject in an
effort for me to better realize how I can sell my work without
compromising my art form.

I dislike E-cards. For one thing, I am always concerned about opening
them, as they often contain viruses, spyware, malware, etc. As I
dislike noisy flashing web sites, I also usually don't enjoy the
contents of e-cards, which tend to be noisy flashy animations.

My feeling about a greeting card is that it is a reflection of what
the giver thinks of me. Theoretically, they have chosen the card
because they believe that it will appeal to me in some way, or that I
will find it's message meaningful or entertaining. It's interesting to
see what people believe you will like.

I have to say that I also dislike e-cards. I run a small hand made
greeting card shop on the net and I have thought about moving into the
e-card arena. Despite having a large circle of friends I've only ever
received 1 e-card and I did feel rather dubious about following the
link to it for the reasons given by the other poster, spyware and
viruses.

I don't think they'll ever replace the joy of receiving a hand made
greeting card. Despite all the animation and sound that you get with
them, a normal greeting card that drops through your letter box seems
to say an awful lot more to people than an email with a link attached
to it.
