I'd like to know the number of times the flag has been lowered to half-mast per year during Bush's presidency vs. the years of other recent presidents. Cite your sources, please. If these occurences are indexed, that would be great. The results need be for US only. (Canada also lowers their flags in times of mourning.) |

I realize this is not the answer you are looking for, but I found this interesting and you may as well. Check out this link: http://www.usflag.org/nffhalfstaff.html It discusses when, by law or presidential order, a flag is allowed to be flown at half staff. Many times, a flag flown at half staff is done so, for lack of better words, illegally. |

Yes, here is the Public Law. You just can't have people doing anything they want with the Stars and Stripes. For better or worse, the law does not include any penalties for non-observance. http://www.bcpl.net/~etowner/flagcode.html |
