Hi arachnie!!
The duration of flood due a tsunami can vary from several hours for
well drained lands to several days and weeks for poorly drained
fields. It also depends on the geographical configuration of the
flooded area. For example think on what happened in New Orleans after
Katrina strikes it; some parts of the city are under sea and/or lake
and river level, so it will takes several months to drain the area
using pumps.
According to the Dartmouth Flood Observatory, for the more affected
areas, the flood duration was 4 days, see the table at this page:
"2004 Flood Archive":
http://www.dartmouth.edu/~floods/Archives/2004sum.htm
You will find maps showing the areas affected by flood due the
26-Dec-2004 tsunami at the following page:
"Flooding: 12/26/04 - 12/29/04 - Southern Asia - Earthquake and
Tsunami - Indonesia, Sri Lanka and India":
http://www.dartmouth.edu/~floods/2004193.html
The flood damage due a tsunami can vary from "Minor damage" (return to
normal without interventions) to "Land completely and permanently lost
to the sea", to see more on this visit the following page from the FAO
(FOOD AND AGRICULTURE ORGANIZATION OF THE UNITED NATIONS):
"LAND DAMAGE CLASSIFICATION":
http://www.fao.org/ag/tsunami/assessment/assess-damage-class.html
and
"Agricultural Recovery swift in some areas, slower in others,
depending on the regional recovery capacities":
http://www.fao.org/ag/tsunami/assessment/assess-damage.html
After reading the above documents you have noticed that there is not
only the flood duration what determines the damage caused, you must
take into account other factors.

the tsunami are:

"Phuket photo gallery":
This gallery show images from Phuket, Thailand during and after the
tsunami, according to this images the flood duration in this place was
probably less than one day, only a few hours.

The above is probaly confirmed by this blog report from a survivor:

Hi, I am back!!
I did a new research in order to answer your request for a
clarifications and here are my conclusions:
All sources tend to confirm the Dartmouth Flood Observatory data for
Banda Aceh, almost flooding affected areas of Banda Aceh were not
under water at 29 Dec 2004, except for some minor areas that remain
waterlogged for more several days, mostly not settlements but low
level places used for aquaculture that are poorly drained areas.
Comparative satellite images show very dramatic damage caused by the
wall of water that hit this city (some reports talk about a 18 meter
wall of water) and also show how the tsunami altered the shoreline by
erosion and the land which was lost to the sea.
Follows a list of links to images and articles that I used as sources:
"DLR map production for reconstruction support of Aceh region/Indonesia":
This page gives you links to different high resolution post-tsunami
satellite images taken from 28-Dec-2004 to 30-May-2005.
