I am a 37-yr old white male, and I am lucky that most people remark that I look like I am still in my 20's. I am also fortunate in that I rarely get breakouts and have a nice complexion. I want to continue looking younger, but--like most men-- I don't want to spend a lot of time OR MONEY fussing with skin-care products. My current skin-care regiment is practically non-existent. I usually wash my face w/ a tea-tree or some sort of specialized facial soap. After shaving, I occasionally apply pure aloe (directly from the plant leaf). But, more often then not, I don't do anything. No after shave, no moisturizer, etc. I am very good about applying sunscreen on my face whenever I go outside. When I was younger, I used to put on alpha-hydroxy cream, but I stopped doing that a while ago. What I am looking for now is to find out what specific brands of OTC product or products are the most effective at combatting the signs of aging and are also the most cost-effective. (I know that certain brands charge more just for the name and I want to avoid these and get the best deal.) I am also interested in learning about natural remedies that are effective and are simple and quick to implement. Please devise a lazy man's guide to simple skin care (with specific product recommendations). (Please, no references from Men's Health magazine or other advertiser-driven pseudo information.) As a footnote, I am very aware that proper nutrition/exercise, and sun-block are a important to anti-aging. Thanks in advance! I am also curious about herbal |

Skin aging and wrinkles are complicated process. There is not any one cause that can be solved with a cosmetic, it is inevitable. Oxygen depletion, free-radical damage, collagen destruction, reduced cell turnover, abnormal cell formation genetically predetermined cell shutdown, hormone loss are some of the many actors of aging. The combination of these things is the real cause of wrinkles. If you are 37 and still look like in your 20's I should say you are one of the rare lucky people in this world. The men have advantage over women relates to shaving and resulting cell turnover it produces. If the cost-effective methods are working for you I will recommend you to continue with what you do in your daily life. If you want to try one of the popular skin care line in the market(eventhough they are not very cost-effective) B. Kamins Male, MD Formulations Men Skin Care may two of your choices. I hope this information will be helpful. |
