This is a two part question. First I'm looking for estimates of the
size of the worldwide microsensor market, which includes all types of
sensors (for example electrical, chemical, biological, magnetic) in
both wired and wireless form. Second (and most important), I'd like
to know the size of the wireless microsensor market by itself. Growth
estimates for both would be nice also. I need the answers by
September 10.

I think someone could say $100 billion world wide/one billion in
wireless micro sensors, and defend the numbers by adjusting the
definitions. ie some micro switches have a small dimention of about
1.5 centimeters, which is 15,000 micro-meters. How much of the
supporting circuitry do you wish to include. Is a wireless keyboard a
microsensor, a thermometer, a ruler, a microphone, a cell phone? All
of these sense and are wireless. Neil

Good point. Thanks for your comment.

Answers.com defines microsensor as "A miniature electronic device that
detects information about a specific variable such as temperature or
light." However, I prefer to use the definition found in the book
"Microsensors, MEMS, and Smart Devices" by Gardner et al
(http://eu.wiley.com/WileyCDA/WileyTitle/productCd-047186109X,descCd-tableOfContents.html):

"A microsensor is a sensor that has at least one physical dimension at
the submillimeter level."

I would rule out keyboards, cell phones, etc. because their primary
purpose is not sensing.
