I need to create my wedding registry. As far as dinnerware, I know
exactly what I want, but I can't seem to find it! Here is the
criteria:

-Solid black. I'm willing to mix and match two sets, but the dinner
and salad plates must be solid black. The second set must have some
black in it and the black must be visible when there is food in the
dish, eg white with a black rim. Also it must have the same finish,
material, and shade of black as the solid dishes.
-Sturdy and good-quality; ideally glazed ceramic
-Very simple and elegant. I don't like ridges, designs, textures,
oddly-shaped plates, etc.
-Must be a collection that will be around for at least another year,
as opposed to a seasonal collection that will be quickly discontinued.

This is absolutely perfect:

. If there is a problem with that link, it is the Waechtersbach black
dinnerware. The problem is, the collection is very limited. It only
has plates and bowls. I am looking for a set (or two to mix and match)
that has the following:

-Dinner and salad plates
-Large serving platter, i.e. for roasts or turkey
-Medium serving platter
-Casserole dishes, ideally a variety
-Soup plates -- the flattened, wide, shallow bowls. NOT cereal bowls.

The following would be nice, but are optional:
-Large serving bowls, for serving salads and pasta family-style
-Cereal bowls
-Gravy boat
-Sugar bowl and creamer
-Gratin dish

Is there a set or sets that meet my criteria? Thanks!

I wanted to add -- if I end up having to mix and match two sets, I'm
willing to tolerate a simple, elegant pattern on the set that is not
solid black. Nothing flowery or rococo. Asian or French bistro
inspired is good.

Oh, and everything must be dishwasher-safe.

Greetings,

I am familiar with the site www.replacements.com?s1=gans&1&.

Take a look at the following patterns as they are some of my favorites:

Try: http://www.cherrylanecollection.com/WaechtersbachFreestyleBlack0.html

or

http://www.nextag.com/black-dinnerware/search-html

I suspect that part of the problem is that the Waechtersbach Black is
an informal or casual dinnerware pattern/collection, and the pieces
you have listed are most often found in formal dinnerware collections.
