Where can I find listings of, or locations of, laboratory asset/surplus sales specifically relating to Animal Care (Caging, watering equipment, cage/rack washers, water treatment, etc)? I am not looking for anything which comes easily in a google search. I'm looking for someone who has an inside track in locating such sales. I already know about SAS.NET, Graystone Auction, Lab4less, and LabX. The latter 2 are brokers who attend these sales and dramatically increase prices. A company such as this is NOT what I'm looking for. I'm looking for auctions/consignments/sales where such a company would get their equipment prior to selling it themselves. NorthEast, South, and Midwest preferred. An answer which saves me thousands of dollars may warrant further consultation in the future. |

Mostly have heard of these by word-of-mouth and from former (or soon to be former) employees. The best way is to network with companies (especially small ones) that use the same type of equipment. It is often helpful to network with OPS or facilities people. (don't know of any currently). |

Yeah, it's pretty much hit&miss, moreso miss than hit. The other wholesalers won't help me if they find something because they'll want the equipment for themselves, or want to broker it just the same as Lab4less or labx.. price increases of about 500% or better. The LABS are what I need to get after. They regularly trash or liquidate thousands of items I could use in consignments or in such a company as "Dovebid." I've been in touch with the 3 big ones and everyone will "Have someone get back to me." what else is new! Thanks |

To add clarification to your comments... LabX is not a broker. It is an eBay-type site that does not get involved with transactions to buy or sell any equipment. They are an independant marketplace so you will never see them at any auction sale. Also, you can post a free wanted ad on LabX in their Animal Care section. |
