Dear jjarel,
"e-globalstore.com" is not in business anymore. Actually, they never
were in business, because they were nothing but a scam. Although their
website has disappeared, there are enough evidences left that, if
carefully examined and interpreted, provide proof for this. Those
evidences are typical for online scam businesses:
1. Ownership of the Domain Name
I checked who the registered owner of the domain "e-globalstore.com"
is. According to the whois record, it is one Phillip L. Borden from
Sheboygan Falls, Wisconsin. The record also reveals the alleged
residential address and the phone number of the domain owner. I can't
mention them here because, as I found out, this individual really
exists. However, there can be no doubt that he does not even know that
his name, address and phone number were used for registering the
domain. It is the typical behaviour of online scammers to use names
and addresses they get somewhere to register the domains for their
fraud websites. The reason is simple: They don't want to be tracked by
their victims. Besides, it is most unlikely that an Indonesian company
with 100 employees would have to register their domain through an
individual resident in Wisconsin: There are domain registration
providers in Indonesia, too!
2. Age of the Domain
The whois record for "e-globalstore.com" also reveals that the domain
was registered only on 21 July 2005, and it will expire already on 21
July 2006. This is also typical for scam businesses: They use
"disposable" domains that are simply abandoned after they are not of
use any longer.
3. Unbelievable Company Backgrounds
The website of "e-globalstore" may have vanished, but they had set up
additional sites. Those do still exist, and I found them. They also
call themselves "EGS International", which is obviously meant to be an
acronym for "e-globalstore":
MFGTrade.com: EGS International
http://www.mfgtrade.com/en/egstore/
Busytrade: EGS International Pte Ltd
http://www.busytrade.com/company_home/company_home.php?memid=egstore&show=gywm
They state that their "company" was founded already in 1995. That
would mean that they waited for 10 years before they registered their
domain. That's extremely unbelievable. I am convinced that this
"company" was no older than their domain registration. Besides,
"e-globalstore" respectively "ECS International Pte Ltd" have left
very, very few marks on the Internet for a company that reportedly
existed for 10 years. And all of them in business-to-business trade
portals where anyone can declare himself a company because the entries
are not veryfied. No independent sources mention this "company".
4. The boldest of all Lies
While on the two websites mentioned above this fraud "business"
claimed to be located in Indonesia (which is probably where the
scammers are), they also tried to disguise themselves as an American
enterprise:
http://egsstore.en.ec21.com/company_info.html
Note the extremely poor command of the English language. Suddenly,
they are allegedly located in Woodbridge, Virginia - but they still
have Indonesian telephone numbers! I checked the address and found out
that the scammers just used the name of the actual owner of that house
- a purely residential building with 9 rooms. Hardly enough space for
100 employees. Actually, there can be no doubt that Ms. Karen
LaRiviere has absolutely no knowledge of how her name and address were
misused by fraudsters.
Only one conclusion can be drawn from these facts: "e-globalstore" was
just another scam. And after the scammers had made enough money, they
simply abandoned their fake company.
I hope that this answers your question!
Regards,
Scriptor
