I connect to the internet using a wireless usb adapter. My problem is
that when I try to connect my computer to my router, the internet
becomes inaccessible. It still says I?m connected to the wireless
network, but as soon as I?m connected to the LAN, BAM... no net.
Also, I want to be able to share the wireless connection over my
router to other computers. PLEASE HELP!!

Hi suhsix-ga ,
There is more information needed here like the make of the wireless
router and the wireless cards plus the operating systems (Windows XP,
Win 98 etc ) on the computers and if you could tell me the name of
your ISP. It is impossible to help without these information.

Hi Suhsix-ga,

There are a few more things that we need to know pls answer the
following questions. Try and be as detailed as possible when answering
them some of them might be repetitions so please forgive me i am only
trying to help. :)
1 > Are you having a issue with the computer that has the Microsoft
MN-510 Wireless USB adapter ?
2 > Has it ever worked before ?
3 > If you are connecting to your neighbours wireless network then you
might need to know the security key (or WEP key) of the router , Do
you have that ?
4 > What is the make and the model no of your computer ?
5 > Check the lights on the microsoft wl usb adapter you should have
two solid green lights on it?
If answers to questions 1,3 and 5 are yes then you could go ahead and
try the following steps
i > Click on Start --> Run and put in "cmd" in the run box and click ok
ii > once you have a black dos screen up key in "ipconfig" and hit enter
iii > look for an ip address that should begin with 192.x.x.x
iv > if there is no ip address begining with 192.x.x.x then please
type "ipconfig/release" and hit enter
v > once you are back type "ipconfig/renew" and hit enter check out
the return message and look for an ip address that begins with
192.x.x.x
v > after you have checked the ip address go ahead and type "exit" to
close the dos screen

Irrespective of whether you get an ip address try the following steps

vi > right click on my computer and click on properties
vii > then click on hardware
viii> under hardware click on device manager
ix > in the device manager click on the + sign in front of network adapters
x > Note down everything you have in there (ideally you should have
MN-510 wireless USB adapter listed in there.)
xi > If it is there (which is a good sign) then double click on it
xii > check the device status

you can close all the above screens and get to the desktop.

Pls make sure that you follow the following steps and keep me posted :)

To answer kinda simply, you're connecting to multiple connections at
once. The internet that you get from "one of many neighbors" deals
with your wireless network using the USB adapter, and when you plug in
to the LAN, you are connected to just the LAN. What you need to do is
bridge the connections. Go to Network Connections (can simply type in
address bar of explorer) and select the two connections in question,
the wireless and the LAN. Then right click and select bridge
connections. It should do it for you, and you should be able to access
your neighbor's internet while still on the LAN.

-Hope it helps!

>> Replug Power to the Modem and wait for one minute
