Question ID: 566077
Two simple questions:
1) Is there any special software for English to Chinese conversion.
Basically I am looking to type in English simultaneously have Chinese
Simplified characters. So basically whatever I type in english gets
converted to chinese. I know that is inbuilt option in Micsoft XP
Professional, but problem is that it automatically swtiches back to
english at regular time intervals. So i have to switch it back and
forth between the english, chinese option. I hope you understand my
point.
2) Will it be possible to print a document that has both Chinese and
english language on it. If yes, any special printer or way to do it.

WILL increase the price if you want. I need and answer and please
clarify before putting up any answer. Will pay upto $10 for it.

Thanks,

Thanks Owain for your help.

All i did was first add chinese by going in Control Panel->Regional settings.
I am using it on WIN XP.

I then have the option of English and Simplified chinese on my
language bar. I think I am using PIN YIN. It worked fine with
characters, but with numbers it still does not work for chinese. Any
site that can guide me will be really of g8 help.

Or any software which I can purchase to make the process simple will be also nice.

Printing documents with Chinese and English (written left to write
horizontally) in them is possible. If you're using WORD, you print the
document just like any other document.

No special printer is needed - I've used the bottom of the line
printers from Canon and Epson with no problems.

I'm not certain, though, whether you can include English in a
Chinese document which is set up to read vertically from top to bottom....

yes you right. Infact after posting the question i tried it myself and
it worked fine. Also the English to Simplified chinese conversion
works fine except for Numbers. It just does not convert the numbers in
chinese.

Any help.

Thanks,

Are you typing in romanised chinese (eg pinyin) or looking for an
English>Chinese *translator*, which is a completely different thing?

If you are typing in romanised chinese the software you are using is
called an IME (Input Method Editor) and there are several available,
free or paid-for. You don't have to use the one supplied with some
versions of MS.
