There is a quote allegedly attributed to Joseph Stiglitz that says
something along the lines of "it is easy to come up with an economic
theory but it is difficult to come up with an economic theory that
fits the data".  This is just a general meaning of the quote, I am
quite sure I am paraphrasing it quite liberally.  I would be very
grateful if you could find the actual quote.

Unfortunately, I only heard this quote mentioned once in a
presentation on general application of applied microeconomic theory to
the field of industrial organisation.  The talk was given by Dr M
Walker.  I have searched for this quote in the past but unfortunately
have not been very successful finding any leads to which paper or book
this saying might come from.  Hope this helps.  Please let me know if
