Question ID: 56663
Seeking the title of the following song and the name of an artist who
may have recorded it.

How can I leave you though I know it’s time to go
How can I leave you when I love you so
Eventide is falling I must be on my way
All the world is calling but my heart says stay
Faithful forever my love is like a star
Shining forever everywhere you are
Think of me beloved kiss me once more and then
Think of me beloved till we meet again.

Hi Dave,

Do you have any idea of the approximate year the song may have been
recorded? A time frame would be helpful as I've come up empty-handed
so far.

Thanks!

The best I can do is to place the time frame between 1935 and 1955.

Hi Dave22 -- My mother could have sworn she knew every song recorded
during that era, but these lyrics have us stumped. Are you familiar
with the melody? If so, could you give us a couple of lines worth of
notes? Try looking at the question "identify old song" that I worked
on a few weeks ago for an example that worked. Thanks...now I'm
really curious. AH

So sorry but I don't have a clue when it comes to reading music. I
wish I could give you more clues. It is my wife who threw this one at
me and she says she may have heard it about the time when I sailed
from the UK to India in October 1950. Such a long time ago!

Ah, that's all right Dave22...the information in your clarification is
helpful. Was your wife in the UK when you sailed to India in 1950?
Do you think it's likely it was recorded by a British performer?
Thanks -- AH

Yes she stayed behind in the UK initially and it could have been a
British performer. Hope this helps.

I am still trying to find this for you. I emailed the lyrics to my
mom and she was going to ask around, but no luck so far. Just wanted
you to know I haven't given up on it!

Sounds reminiscent of a Roger Whitakker song that my parents used to
play. I'll see if they can dig it out??
