Question ID: 566649
So who is that guy doing the narrating on all the movie previews we
see? Depening on the type of movie (horror, chick flick, comedy)
there is a different voice...but it seems like its the same voice
throughout. For example, all the horror movies seem to use one guy,
all the comedy movies use the same guy, etc. So who are these people
and how do i get in touch with one to do something for me?

There are several well-known voice-over actors who do trailers.

These are the two that I would say are the most famous:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Don_LaFontaine

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hal_Douglas

In this hilarious trailer for the movie 'Comedian', Hal Douglas spoofs
himself and his profession:

There are hundreds (maybe thousands) of guys doing this kind of work,
and they tend to mimic each other. If you'd like to name specific
trailers, I'll be glad to research the voice-over artist for each
title, and see if I can find contact info for you.

I have also found a website which offers a variety of voice actors for hire.

I'm hoping to hear from you regarding your needs. Would a list of some
popular voice-over actors who often do movie preview work, plus a link
to a database where you can find voice-over actors for hire, be a
fully satisfactory answer?

Here's an entertaining little clip where you get to see the top 5
voice over artists in LA on their way to an awards show. You get to
learn their names and faces, and you'll recognize their voices.

<a href="http://www.monkeysage.org/5men.mov"
target=_blank>http://www.monkeysage.org/5men.mov</a>
(caution, 35 meg file, can take a bit to load)

Their names:
Don La Fontaine, John Leader, Nick Tate, Mark Elliott, and Al Chalk

<a href="http://www.imdb.com" target=_blank>http://www.imdb.com</a>
has a free 14 day trial of their "pro" edition which may provide
contact info for their representation.

Whoops, html not allowed, sorry.

http://www.monkeysage.org/5men.mov
is the link to the 35 meg clip about the men behind the voices.

http://www.imdb.com can give you their representation if you sign up
for their "pro" edition, which has a 14 day free trial.

Note to my fellow Researchers:

I am no longer attached to this question, since I haven't been able to
interest the customer in anything I have to offer. I hope someone can
succeed where I have failed.

Post it Pink. The guy he is asking about has got to be Don LaFontaine,
the undisputed "King of the Movie Trailers".
