I'm looking for good reviews / suggested honeymoon activities for the
French Riviera. Specifically, my new wife and I will be travelling to
Nice, Cannes, and Monte Carlo from Sep 18th to Sep 22, and am looking
for good resturaunts, bars/clubs/night life, casinos, lounges,
beaches, water sport activities, that we should plan on visiting.
We'll be staying in a hotel in Nice, but we'll have a rental car, so
making day trips to Cannes or Monte Carlo will be no problem. We're
not that into museums or places of historical significance - we're
mostly looking for fun places that we'll have a great time. Both of us
are in our upper 20's - so reviews from people like us would be best.
Bottom line question: What should my wife and I plan on seeing and
doing while visiting the French Riviera? (An answer by Tuesday 9/13
would be most appreciated).

As you've only got four days here I have prepared a small list of
"non-tourist trap" restaurants that you'll both enjoy. Since you'll
have a car I've taken the liberty of providing addresses not more than
one hours drive from your hotel in Nice...

1. MENTON - L'Occitan - Place aux Herbes. Quiet and friendly.
2. DOLCE AQUA - Le Veccia. Actually in Italy just over the border with
Menton. From Nice about 45 minutes drive. Odd place, but
brilliant...there's no menu you just get everything they do. Prepare
to be stuffed. Wine is free! My favourite place...I like it so much we
had our daughters baptism party there!
3. ST ANDREOL/BAGNOL EN FORET - Golfe de St Andreol in the Var about
45 minutes from Nice.
4. FREJUS - Via Milano - Frejus Plage. Great Italian food opposite the
beach. About 60 minutes from Nice if traffic is in your favour!

and finally

5. LORGUES - The home of the world famous truffle restaurant BRUNO'S.
Absolutely a must visit if you like good expensive food! Phone ahead
to reserve and decanter the wine. Might be an idea to take out a
second mortgage to pay for it! Hey! You're only married once, right?
About 60 minutes from Nice.

Take lunch at either the Petit Carlton in Cannes or the Negresco in
Nice on the Promenade des Anglais. [The gents toilet at the Negresco
has to be seen to be believed...].The roof restaurant at the Noga
Hilton is also a great lunch venue if the weather is good.

For good bars/drinking try the port at Antibes, about half an hour
from Nice centre, or the port at St Laurent du Var just outside Nice.

For the beach I would propose Eze Plage. Not that many go there for
two reasons; first Eze is more reknowned for its hilltop monestary and
perfume factory, and second the neighbouring beach at Beaulieu is more
accessible.

Hope this helps...

Good luck to the both of you with the marriage and honeymoon
