Question ID: 567197
I have many ColdFusion files on my computer. They are like HTML
files, but they also have special ColdFusion markup language. The
file extension is .cfm

I want to be able to use Google Desktop Search and type in something
like: "cftransaction" and I want the search to go all through my
computer and look inside the actual .cfm files and bring up every file
that has the word cftransaction in it. How do I do that?

This might work:

Windows Grep

It's free, give it a try and if it works, let me know.

Hi,

If I understand you correctly, you want to search within .cfm files.
If this is the case, Google Desktop doesn't currently support
searching within these types of files. They may add this in the
future.

You need a plug-in to allow google desktop search to recognise the .cfm files

http://desktop.google.com/plugins/

If the correct plugin is not available you could suggest it or try
developing your own

Good luck
