The movie you are thinking of is called "Thaddeus Rose and Eddie."

"...Johnny plays Thaddeus Rose, and Bo Hopkins plays Eddie. They are
two ranching "piddlers" who will never make it big. T.R. drives a 1959
or 1960 Ford pickup. Eddie drives an El Camino with a stock rack. He
takes up chasing a woman named Carlotta. A real estate dealer talks
T.R. into trading his ranch for a citrus grove in the Rio Grande
Valley. He moves there and finds the house a mess. He has a good

Thanks for finding this title (I saw this title in my searches, but
never thought to look at it closer - title didn't ring a bell. And for
