What are the best ways to locate and hire a full-time, dedicated, personal doctor for a year or more? I'm looking for someone with both clinical experience and some research background. This person will need to be available nearly 24/7 (but not actually present or working 24/7, of course). I live in the San Francisco Bay area and would expect the doctor to live nearby. | |

Look in medicalcountries.com and you will find http://www.abms.org/, which lists U.S. and Foreign Specialists Certified in the U.S.A. (other links that give you information about doctors in your state and other countries, are provided) Also check Google Groups as this helps locate people with your same problem and their found solutions. You can discuss your problems with various people. Last, go to the main library in you?re town and they usually have a book listing all specialists by state and frequently in your town. (If you have problems ask you librarian to help you, they all use this book) |

Use Telemedicine, as mentioned in medicalcountries.com, for constant, minute by minute, surveillance of your in-home patient. You could use Indian, and Thailand doctors located in India or Thailand, or an equally qualified, but more expensive U. S. doctor. Or you could instantly send your information to two doctors and compare the results from each and drop the less productive doctor. You might also find an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse that has specialized in your needed medical area and is less expensive and sometimes more attentive. The capacity now exists, with your home computer, camera and other hardware and software, to instantly be treated by doctors all over the world, at greatly reduced prices. A basic telemedicine system consists of a personal computer, a modem, a telephone line, a scanner and a web cam, (inexpensive equipment you may have in your house.)
