A poem my grandma recited to me in the late 40's and early 50's was about a women named Alta Wayne? who lived in the mountains and was raising her child in the absence of her husband. It was about how the child roamed away and was almost killed by the mountain lion. all my sister and I can rememberis the name Brave Alta Wayne and the start of the poem which goes something like this: The snow clad mountains lofty height, with it's head so brim in the balded sky, where ore the wild rock grey and brown the crystal waters came leaping down, etc, etc. I need someone's help so much here. None of my research as done any good. Thanks, Sandy |
