Hello zoeleamae,

The identification number for French citizens has a total of 15 digits
(13 digits plus a 2-digit key).

As indicated in the English-language article and confirmed in the
French-language articles, the key is at the end. The digits are all
numbers for most citizens; however, for persons born in Corsica, digit
7 is the letter A or B.
