I would like to learn algebra. it is not important that i took it in
high school 50 years ago. i just want to know that at my somewhat
advanced age that i can learn it from the beginning. i was thinking of
"algebra for dummies" but that book got mixed reviews. if the person
who answers this though does suggest "algebra for dummies" along with
1 or 2 more, that would be an acceptable answer. thank you

Thank you very much for accepting my suggestion! I have reposted the link below.

My Google search strategy:

Google Web Search: algebra "self taught OR teaching"

As someone who finds algebra genuinely fascinating, I wish you many
happy equations.

I would recommend "Teach Yourself Algebra" by P.Abbot, available from
Amazon. This is a great little book, that first got me interested in
Maths almost 60 yrs ago!!

"Mathematician's Delight" by W.W. Sawyer is good and ranges over lots of subjects.

have had 3 answers. all answers are satisfactory. earliest answer was by:

1. pinkfrued at 1240 pdt. then
2. denco at 1420 pdt. then
3. bozo at 1642 pdt. since all answers are satisfactory, i believe
pinkfrued should be the person who "answered the question." pinkfreud,
i accept your answer and am giving 5 stars plus a tip of 1.02 to the
1st power for a total of 5.00... please post.

Dear fredg2004

Please note that bozo99 is not a researcher and thus even if you
wished to pay him , you would not be able to. (Researchers are "blue",
Mere non-Researchers like myself are "black")

I think if your budget can afford it you may want to order all the books
suggested (including Boyo62-gs's suggestion "Teach Yourself Algebra")

Many hours of happy algebra!
