Question ID: 568779
Where did Frank Boo go after 1898, when he was working in Stillwater,
Minnesota? Born in Sweden in 1851, he emigrated in 1870 to the US.
He is not
to be confused with another Frank Boo, who contemporaneously worked in
Stillwater, but became a farmer in Isanti Co., MN.

"Boo" is a very uncommon surname.

Afe you quite certain that there were really two "Frank Boo's' in the
same Minnestoa town at the same time?

Can you tell us a bit more about how you came to this conclusion?

Thanks.

The "other" Frank Boo was born, as I recall, in 1859. He left Stillwater in
1894 to become a farmer in Spring Lake, Isanti County, MN (it's near North
Branch, MN. Lived and died there.

This "other" Frank had relatives who lived for a while in Stillwater and were
known as friends of my family, but were unrelated. I have a detailed obituary
of this Frank which makes this clear.

Franksearch --

Unless a researcher gets lucky and finds a family tree for Mr. Boo at
a source like genealogy.com or ancestry.com one of the best routes
would be to apply to Customs & Immigration for his citizenship papers.

If your grandfather was ever naturalized as an American citizen you
may want to start the paperwork to get copies of his citizenship
paperwork.

You have to request a copy of the "Petition for Naturalization" and
"Certificate of Naturalization" from the Immigration and
Naturalization Service using a 'Freedom of Information Act' (FOIA)
request. This process takes 4-6 months and undoubtedly will be
expedited if you provided a stamped return envelope:

U.S. Department of Justice
"FOIA Request Form"
http://uscis.gov/graphics/formsfee/forms/g-639.htm

It's not guaranteed that they'll have the information that you need,
but if he was naturalized after leaving Stillwater, it will have
addresses and references.

Best regards,

Hi franksearch-ga,

As a writer about the use of aggregate databases,I think one site you
can go is www.heritagequestonline.com.A guy by the same name can be
located there but not 100% matches in details, but is likely the one
you need.According to the 1900 census indicated on that site,by 1900
he was in the North Branch Township (Isanti County) , Minnesota. You
can see this digitized
document:http://www.heritagequestonline.com/dvimage/genealogy/stage/dvimage?filename=/heritage/vault/hqc35/T623/771/1/167B.tif&scale=2

And in the 1910 census,he was still in the same
place:SEEhttp://www.heritagequestonline.com/dvimage/genealogy/stage/dvimage?filename=/heritage/vault/hqc51/T624/707/1/108B.tif&scale=2

Good Luck.

Hi franksearch-ga,

Again, apparently Frank Boo can't be located again in the 1920
census. From this you may assume he had passed away before the coming
of the 1920 census.

Good Luck.

Hi franksearch-ga,

You are so lucky because you got the answer for free. After searching
the database www.heritagequestonline.com,I used another even better
one called www.ancestrylibrary.com also run by Proquest.I checked the
1930 Census and find he's still there,in the same place,ISANTI and his
wife, still Emley. And his two kids were Harry and Mable(Mable C
Boo).And Frank's estimated birth year was 1860.

Then I checked the Minnesota Death Index,1908-2002 from the same
database and the final data about Frank Boo is:Death
Date:11/18/1934;Death Place:ISANTI;State File Number:006119.

So,are you satisfied?

If you have other details about this gentleman, such as his date of
birth and date of death (or place of death), or his wife's name,
parent's names, children's names, occupation, etc. Please post them so
I can suggest a genealogically related website where you can post a
query to the Washington County, Minnesota area where a local
researcher could check local records (census, property, etc.) to
perhaps solve this mystery for you.
