Question ID: 569187
I have a disc that is an Access data base file. I don't use the
Access program and it hardly seems appropriate to join to print one
list. What other programs might download this disc?

irishgirl...

What is the extension of the file...the three characters
after the dot in the filename, as in file.txt?

There don't seem to be a lot of options out there.
Here's the one I would choose if I just wanted to
view one file...

Total Commander is a shareware file manager for
Windows, and you can download a fully-functional
version of it here:
http://www.ghisler.com/download.htm

At 1.5MB, it's not a long download or a complicated
installation, and you can always uninstall it later,
if you don't need it anymore.

Then download this plugin - Access Viewer 0.7.1 -
which is able to read Access .mdb files:
http://www.totalcmd.net/plugring/mdb.html

Install it into Total Commander as noted on that
page:

"To install:
Upack downloaded files into Total Commander directory
Go to Configuration menu, select Options button
Select Packer tab in Configuration screen
Press "Configure packer extension DLLs" button
 Enter "mdb" as file extension
 Associate mdb extension with wcx_mdb.wcx
 Press Ok"

That should let you read the file.
