In MS Windows applications (I use WordPerfect, Excel, Adobe Acrobat, and
Gauss) I would like to know how to set the default files listing as
"Details" instead of "Thumbnails" or "Icons" or "List." I know
already how to do this in Windows Explorer, but I would like to know
how to set globally the default to "Details" so that from any
application, when I browse for a file, the folder and file list would
show up in Details view. Is there such a solution?

Please let me know if this answers your question:

To set all your folders to your favorite view style, follow the steps below:

1. Go into any folder and in the Vew tab set it at "Details".

2. In the same folder, select Tools > Folder Options.

3. In Folder Options, click on the View tab .

4. Click on Apply to All Folders button

5. Click OK to complete action.

Now all your folders should be displayed in "Details" mode.

Looking forward to your clarification.

Best regards,
Rainbow

Thanks for the advice, but the procedure you suggest works from within
Windows Explorer, but it doesn't change the default view for other
applications: Notepad, Adobe Acrobat, and Gauss, for example. It is
entirely possible that there is no such global setting.
