Just got off the phone with Dell from what has to be one of at least 5
ridiculously frustrating phone conversations I?ve had with them in the
past week. I?m 1000% certain an objective hardware guru can make
better recommendations than Dell with about 30 seconds of effort.
Hopefully, that?s where you come in :)
We trade stocks using Bloomberg?s web based software. Our computers
don?t need to do hardly anything else. We never open Word,
Excel?possibly Outlook Express every now and then?but really all we do
is have a web browser open to trade. That?s it. The way we like to
use Bloomberg is with a quad monitor array (four 15? or 17? flat
panels). When I talk to Dell, they of course try to sell me some
ridiculously complex system with all kinds of crap when in reality all
we need is little more than a bare bones configuration with a good
graphics card?after all, the card?s processor will be doing all of the
heavy lifting. Therefore, what I am looking for is a list of 5 or 10
graphics cards with quad monitor support (they don?t even need to be
DVI, but can be). We haven?t yet decided if we will use PCI or AGP,
so I guess I?d really like 5 or 10 of each. For each card, if would
be useful if you could provide:
1) The lowest price on Froogle or Pricegrabber and a link to this
vendor. Price is our primary concern, so this is really important to
us.
2) Basic specs of the card. Memory, chip, etc.
3) A link to some decent review (CNET, Tom?s Hardware, etc?anything
reputable and objective will do) if one is easily found. Don't kill
yourself over this one.
Thanks in advance for providing a higher quality, more objective answer than Dell. |
