Hi safetyissues:
Thank you for the clarification request. I'd be happy to precis for
you a few of the better written articles I found on celebrity response
to the Katrina disaster.
Before I do, however, there's a few more names I'd like to add to the
list. I realized that my previous effort had focussed mostly on those
who had contributed money (or time or items of value), but not on
those celebrities that took a more hands-on, on the ground approach to
helping out.

Here's some selected quotes from, what I believe are, some of the
better-written, more quotable articles I came across:
For Hurricane Relief, Connections Count

Quote: "Going into Fashion Week 10 days ago, the industry that is one
of the city's biggest employers and that has perhaps its highest Q
factor, seemed to ignore the national disaster as it attended to such
pressing matters as whether American women would be ready for culottes
next spring. But then something strangely wonderful and unexpected
happened: Naomi Campbell decided to have a benefit fashion show.
Ms. Campbell may be as familiar to the general public for her tantrums
as for her modeling. Yet after two decades in the business, she is an
industry institution, albeit one with some nagging attitude issues and
the world's longest-playing hair weave. Not incidentally, she is also
a link between people from so many related but disparate fields that
she was ultimately inspired to turn her crammed P.D.A. into a company
that pays her for wrangling business liaisons: NC Connect is the
name."
Back in the public's eye, Jackson wisely takes things slow

Quote: "For most of his trial, Jackson's Kabuki-like face was a
constant on the network newscasts and morning shows. And on cable, it
was all Jackson, all the time with hollow heads such as CNN Headline
News' Nancy Grace and CNN's Larry King giving his trial the kind of
coverage once reserved for world-shaking events like war -- which was
kind of sad, since there actually was a war going on."
Motive aside, celebrity does help in relief efforts - Despite
politics, proclivities, artists bring attention, and money, to cause

Qoute: "In other words, if Leonardo DiCaprio?s presence on ?A Concert
for Hurricane Relief? translates into several thousand dollars in
donations, which can help house and feed a few families rendered
homeless by Katrina, does it make a real difference if some viewers
out there think he?s sincere and others don?t? If there is a celebrity
whose work or love life makes your stomach turn, or a performer whose
political leanings clash with yours, or even an artist whose star has
faded and you don?t think he or she belongs in such a high-profile
gathering, is any of that really an issue if people whose lives have
been ripped apart by this hurricane can get help?
In fact, I wouldn?t mind seeing Crowe and his band, 30 Old Cans of
Beans or whatever the heck its name is, taking up instruments and
doing a few numbers for the cause."
I hope that this helps.
Thanks again.
