IV Cannulation is necessary to deliver IV therapy.
IV is an abbreviation for ?intravenous?, which means inside the vein.
The ?therapy? is delivered through a plastic catheter or needle often
called a cannula, placed in the vein.
How many IV cannulations (this does not include diagnostic
venepuncture) are performed worldwide per year? In the industrialised
world?

Dear theodor-ga,
The only information I can find is from lecture notes by The National
Extravasation Information Service which states that the ?The American
Society of
Radiographers estimated 250 million iv admins in the USA per annum?.
It is otherwise unsourced.

I have accessed the ASRT web site but cannot find the information.

Perhaps another researcher will be more successful (they will all see this update).
