In the painting/collage entitled "Just What Is It That Makes Today's
Homes So Different, So Appealing?" by artist Richard Hamilton (20th
Century, British), in the upper right hand corner of the image is what
seems to be an oil painting in minature. It is a portrait in black
and white, of a man, and is set in a frame. I would like to confirm
1) who the man in the painting is. Hopefully that can be discovered
if there is a list of the clippings that Hamilton used for the
collage. Otherwise, there could be in Hamilton's writings about the
painting or criticism a hint at who people guessed it to be. Also, 2)
it would be especially astounding if it could be traced to a specific
painting! That would be quite an achievement. Many thanks!
