I am looking to move and store some high end furniture with a moving company.
I have one bedroom set, an office desk and credenza, some lamps and a
dining room table and chairs in Miami, Florida. This furniture is
brand new, but it has been unpacked, so it would need to be packed
again. I have living room furniture and a second bedroom set that I
have ordered in Los Angeles, CA and which have not yet been shipped.
The Los Angeles furniture will be commercially packaged because it is
new and has not yet been delivered. Since the LA furniture was ordered
from several retailers, it will become available for storage at
different times over the next 3 months, so I want the storage company
to accept delivery as and when the new furniture becomes available.
All of the furniture was to be used in condominium in Miami, however,
I have changed my plans and sold the Miami condominium.
I am presently living in a furnished condominium and I may not use the
Miami/LA furniture for a year or more. I expect to ultimately use the
furniture in or near LA, so I would like the Miami furniture moved to
LA for storage, so that all the furniture will be stored at the same
location. I need to move the Miami furniture out by October 7,
so please include that fact as a selection criteria. There is no time
pressure for getting the Miami furniture moved to LA, the only time
constraint is getting the furniture moved out of the Miami condominium
by October 7.
I understand that there are movers that will put your furniture in a
sealed crate for storage so that the furniture is only handled twice,
once when it is loaded and once when it is unloaded, rather than being
handled each time it changes location. That solution is appealing to
me because this is new, expensive furniture, and I don't want it to be
damaged by the moving and storage process. Of course if that method
of storage is substantially more expensive, I might not want to go
with it.
Could you please give me the names, contact numbers and general
pricing structure of at least two moving and storage companies that
have outstanding reputations and would satisfy my requirements,
including my move out deadline in Miami? How do I know that a
moving/storage company I select does have a "good reputation"? I have
had some bad experiences with moving companies and if your furniture
is mistreated, as a practical matter there is not too much you can do
about it. Could you let me know if the pricing would be substantially
less expensive if I went with a moving/storage company that did not
offer the feature of putting the furniture is a sealed crate for
storage? |
