I am looking for a name of movie I have seen more than 20 years ago. 
It will be good if you can tell me where to buy or rent a copy of this movie. 
What I remember about the movie is the following: 
(1) The movie was a comedy in English, major characters were dogs. 
(2) It was in color. 
(3) The movie was probably released within the period of 1970-1980.
(4) The story of the movie went like this: A family leaves its dogs including
some puppies in their house for an extended period of time. 
Somebody in the family has been knitting and has left lots of yarn
around the house.
Puppies and dogs in the house start playing and 
get entangled in the knitting threads in comedic ways. 
All of the movie was probably about dogs left to play in the house.

In the 1966 Disney movie "The Ugly Dachshund," there is a long,
hilarious scene in which a group of Dachshund puppies cavort through
the house with knitting yarn. A Great Dane who lives with the family
(and who thinks he is a Dachshund) is blamed for the mess.

I should clarify that I saw the movie in the period 1970-1980.
I do not know when it was released. 
It sounds like the movie suggested  "The Ugly Dachshund" by pinkfreud-ga 
probably has the scene I remember. 
I will try to rent the movie first.
